You are responsible for your own backups
1. What Rexora Vault is
Rexora Vault is an immutable file vault: files you upload are written once and kept in their original form. The vault is engineered to refuse client-initiated edits, renames, overwrites, and per-file deletes. This protects you against ransomware and accidental destruction; it does not protect against media failure, regional outages, force majeure, account compromise, or operator error on your side.
If you need to change a file, save a new version alongside the original (for example report-v2.pdf next to report.pdf); the prior version is preserved unchanged. This is the only sanctioned update workflow and is what makes the vault ransomware-resistant.
2. Client responsibility for backups
- You must maintain an independent backup of any data you consider critical, on storage that is operationally and geographically distinct from your Rexora vault.
- Treat Rexora Vault as one tier in a defense-in-depth strategy (the 3-2-1 rule: at least three copies, on two media, with one off-site).
- The "Compress backups on the fly" feature inside the app produces append-only snapshot archives within your vault. It is not an off-site backup and does not satisfy this responsibility.
- Verify your backups regularly by performing test restores.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Rexora Vault to:
- Store, transmit, or distribute unlawful content.
- Attempt to bypass the immutability enforcement (e.g., reconfiguring the server to grant
delete, rename, or overwrite rights) and then represent the resulting profile as "immutable" to third parties. - Probe, scan, or interfere with the vault infrastructure beyond your own account.
- Resell or re-host the desktop application without our written consent.
4. Deletion model
The only sanctioned way to remove data from the vault is closing the account, which removes the account from the vault server. Files previously uploaded by that account remain on the server until purged by us per our internal data-retention schedule. There is no per-file delete on the client side, and we will not perform selective deletions on your behalf except where required by law.
5. No warranty
The desktop application and the vault service are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including any warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, or uninterrupted availability.
6. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, We Recover Data LLC, its affiliates, employees, and licensors will not be liable for any loss of data, loss of profits, loss of goodwill, business interruption, or any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with your use of (or inability to use) Rexora Vault, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Without limiting the foregoing, our aggregate liability for any claim relating to Rexora Vault will not exceed the amount you paid us, if any, for the service in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or USD 100 — whichever is greater.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages; in those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the greatest extent permitted by law.
7. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless We Recover Data LLC from any claim arising out of your use of the vault, your content, or your breach of this policy.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Usage Policy as the product evolves. Continued use of Rexora Vault after a change becomes effective constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. Material changes will be announced on the Updates page.
